This newsletter is coming to you a little later than usual, but I promise I have a good excuse (it‘s also how I’m bringing you this week’s insights).

I’m in my fifth (!) city of the week following a mix of Goalhanger filming, consulting and now - finally - a hen do. But this crazy travel week all began with a presentation that I delivered about “news influencers” at the Copenhagen TV festival. I have some thoughts about it, which are paywalled below - but I’m also bringing you a really cool Q&A I got to watch that was part of the programme, and what I’m taking from it.

I think documentary maker Ben Zand is building something really exciting at Zandland, his YouTube channel that launched in full this year which builds on over a decade of TV production. Yes, it’s horizontal video - but I believe it shows some of the routes that those of us in vertical video are beginning to take as well (and I will of course have a sneaky look at his vertical stuff too).
